Even your job role is a label. We may not realise but we sometimes label people. These labels may seem innocent but for someone with a mental illness labels can have a massive impact on them. When labelling people in society we don't realise just how negative they are.

Living with and surviving Borderline Personality Disorder
Aimee-Jo NicholsonI am a 23 year old female, whom has recently been diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder. I have learnt one major lesson in my life over the past two years and that is that hindsight is a wonderful thing. After I was diagnosed I set myself the task of trying to conquer this illness by educating myself on my condition. I am a happily married woman with a huge support network and still day to day life is a struggle and always has been for as far back I can remember. Some people living with mental illness don't have any support and often keep it to themselves rather than speak out or ask for help. I have decided to record my journey of my day to day life, with a mental illness and create an area of information for those who want to self-help. However I will always maintain that it is ok to ask for help! |
